Promoting Child Health and wellbeing: the contribution of school based research.

Child Health Research Network – MIE showcase – 2nd February 2015 – 12.00pm – 4.45pm – Jean McFarlane Building

We will be presenting a showcase of work undertaken within MIE on the theme of ‘child health and wellbeing’ – broadly defined – to a mixed audience of health and humanities researchers and practitioners in early February 2015.  It will include keynote presentations from Prof Alan Dyson on health, education and inequalities, and Dr Ann Lendrum on the importance of conducting implementation research on school based interventions.  Other sessions will showcase themes of work within MIE that relate to child health and wellbeing, and on issues relating to conducting school based research in this area.

As part of the showcase, we would like to invite PGR students to contribute posters on research relating to this theme.  Students at any stage of their studies are welcome to participate.  Posters will be displayed in the Buffet area and Conference room for delegates to browse.

1.       Any student interested in creating a poster of their research for this event should submit an abstract of 250 words to Neil Humphrey and Alison Alborz (via Alison.alborz@manchester.ac.uk<mailto:Alison.alborz@manchester.ac.uk> ) by 30th November 2014. The abstracts will be reviewed and five selected to be produced by the UoM Media workshop, funded by MIE.

Students who are notified that their abstract has been selected will then need to produce, in no more than 1000 words, the full text for their poster (MSWord document).  Inclusion of charts produced through Excel or SPSS is acceptable.  If other images are to accompany text, these must be high resolution, copyright free, and where they portray people, appropriate consents for publication must have been obtained.  The deadline for submission of poster text/images will be 5th January 2015.

2.       Any PGR students who already have a poster on the above theme that they would like to contribute to the event above, are welcome to do so.  Please email Alison.alborz@manchester.ac.uk<mailto:Alison.alborz@manchester.ac.uk> to let us know that you wish your poster to be included (giving details of the title and theme) and arrange to bring it to Rm A6.17 by 12th January 2015.
