Modernist Musics and Political Aesthetics is a three-day conference bringing together international scholars to develop understanding of the convergences between modernism, music and politics. A full schedule is attached.

Keynote speakers

Wednesday 8th April, 1pm:   Prof Christopher Norris (University of Cardiff)
                                               ‘A Verse-Epistle to Mr Philip Glass, with sundry reflecitons on the revolt against modernism’
Thursday 9th April, 2pm:      Dr Emma Sutton (University of St Andrews)
                                               ‘Music and Modernism beyond the High Modernist Canon’
Friday 10th April, 12pm:      Dr Scott W. Klein (Wake Forest University)
                                              ‘The Beethoven Freeze: Classical Music and Modernist Containment from Klimt to Godard’
