Publishing your Research: How, when and where?

This workshop is primarily intended for PhD students and early career researchers with limited experience of publishing their work. The session will focus on turning your PhD research into publishable material (both journal articles and books). You will have the opportunity to hear from researchers who will share their experiences and offer advice on the publishing process. John Rylands Library will discuss Open Access publishing and what it might mean for you as you build your academic reputation, and a Commissioning Editor from Manchester University Press will outline what makes a successful book proposal. The session will cover:

  • Turning a chapter into a journal article
  • Understanding and responding to peer review
  • Publishing your first book
  • How to write a successful book proposal
  • Open Access and what it means for early career researchers
