A Masterclass in Public Speaking – By Caroline Clegg

This half-day masterclass is for researchers who are interested in learning how to speak confidently in a variety of public facing situations from conference presentations to delivering lectures.
This practical workshop aims to increase self-confidence in presentation and communication situations by examining aspects of successful presentations. Participants will explore a range of techniques including use of voice, body language, and managing Q and A’s.
Participants are to bring a short presentation with them that lasts no less than 1 minute and no more than 3 minutes. The presentation can be on any topic and should have a beginning, middle and end, presentations may be videoed and played back during the workshop. Be prepared to be active and wear clothing suitable to move in.
Please note that this workshop cannot help you improve presentation content – it is designed to equip participants with the skills necessary to enhance the delivery of a presentation.
